NBMI announces issuance of first patent
Edmond-based NanoBioMagnetics, Inc. (NBMI) recently announced the issuance of its first patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The patent, titled “Method and Apparatus for Improving Hearing,” is based on the use of magnetically responsive nanoparticles implanted in the organs of the middle ear to drive tissue vibrations in the amplification of sound. State lab begins move in to Edmond
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation began moving into its new OSBI Forensic Science Center located across the street from the University of Central Oklahoma. The 86,000-square-foot facility houses a drug unit, trace evidence unit and a toxicology unit and includes garages for examining cars for crime evidence, a ballistics range and one large crime lab to accommodate investigations involving biology, zoology, firearms/toolmarks. Each unit is being moved into the facility separately during what is expected to be a month-long process. Edmond participates in green infrastructure project
Edmond is the only city in Oklahoma to participate in a project to create a "green infrastructure.” A green infrastructure is a map of open spaces in Edmond. The project, with the assistance of the Edmond Land Conservancy, will identify potential conservation easements. Money for the project comes from a $10,000 U.S. Forest Service grant awarded to the state, but it is being coordinated through the city of Edmond. Courtesy of The Oklahoman, March 13, 2008.

State jobless rate declines
