2008 Edmond Economic Abstracts now available
Each year, the Edmond Economic Development Authority publishes the Economic Abstract, a full-color, 14-page publication containing the city of Edmond’s most impressive data and demographics. The 2008 Economic Abstract, sponsored by Oklahoma Christian University, contains demographic information and residential and commercial real estate market information. The 2008 Economic Abstract is a tool not only for the EEDA, but also for you and your organization to use for everything from recruiting employees, to attracting retailers and other tenants, to informing potential new residents. Ballyhoo Inc. opens Edmond location
Ballyhoo, Inc., a Houston-based marketing and advertising corporation recently opened new production studios and offices in Edmond, Oklahoma. The offices are located at 426 E. 2nd St. and the production studios are located in a warehouse on the north side of Edmond. The Edmond location will provide service to the entire state of Oklahoma. Financial District experiences growth
The Financial District of Oklahoma, in the area of 15th Street and Bryant Avenue in Edmond, has experienced significant business growth in the past year. Businesses located in the ChappelWood building at 1725 E. 15th St. include First Collateral Mortgage, Ameriprise, Christin Adkins PLLC and family law attorney A.J. Jones. Edmond-based Sonarta recently received the merit award for best Web site from the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department. Edmond Budgets for Quiet Zone Study
Edmond is responding to requests from citizens about the feasibility of quiet zones by including funds in next year’s budget for a study that would evaluate the options and costs. A quiet zone is a railroad grade crossing at which trains are prohibited from sounding their horns in order to decrease the noise level for nearby residential neighborhoods. Unemployment rate in Oklahoma is regions lowest
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported unemployment data for Oklahoma and surrounding states for February. The OESC announced March 28 the state’s unemployment dropped to 3.5 percent in February, which is a 0.7 percent decrease from January. Oklahoma’s 3.5 percent rate is less than the U.S.’ 5.2 percent. States tech ranks high
The national report, Technology Counts 2008 by Education Week ranks Oklahoma no. 11 for technology in education. The report looked at efforts to improve education in STEM - the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Shopping center gets overhaul in Edmond
Qdoba Mexican Grill, a burrito fast-casual chain and Panda Express, a Chinese food chain, have leased space in the former Ashling Square shopping center, on the west side of Bryant Avenue south of Second Street. The $1.5 million project to reconstruct the center is about 80 percent complete and will reopen as Alta Mesa.
