Register for the 2009 Edmond Economic Preview
The Edmond Economic Development Authority's 2009 Economic Preview CD Launch and Luncheon is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 29 in the Nigh University Center at the University of Central Oklahoma. The EEDA will unveil the 2009 Economic Preview CD at this annual event, sponsored by First Fidelity Bank. An expert panel will answer pre-submitted questions from attendees. Guests may pre-submit questions to info@eeda.com. Pre-registration cost is $35 and walk-ins are $45. Attendees may purchase tables of eight for $270 until Jan. 23 by calling 405-340-0116. Prices include the luncheon and the 2009 Economic Preview CD containing a special video and reports collected from each expert. Hard copies of the CD are available for an additional $25. Parking traffic should be resolved this year as the gates will be open before and after the event. If you wish to attend, register online here or call 405-340-0116. Bronco Drilling announces November operational results
Edmond-based Bronco Drilling announced their operational results for November with utilization of the drilling fleet down from 87 percent in October to 81 percent. The United States Small Business Administration (SBA) named the University of Central Oklahoma office of the Oklahoma Small Business Development Center the regional winner of the first “Small Business Development Center Excellence and Innovation Award”. Edmond’s Kathy Moser, Ph.D., along with fellow Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation scientist Patrick Gaffney, Ph.D., received the Merrick Award for Outstanding Research. Several Oklahoma banks were able to decline participation in the Treasury Capital Purchase Program because of conservative lending and a sense of community. Oklahoma holds one of region’s lowest unemployment rates
The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission announced Oklahoma’s unemployment rate increased from 3.5 percent to 4.1 percent.
