Oklahoma City, including Edmond, outpaces nation's biggest cybercity
Oklahoma City outran the nation’s biggest cybercity in percentage growth of high-tech jobs. Compared to San Jose, Calif.—the heart of the high-tech sector—a higher percentage of workers grabbed their computers and laptops and went to work in Oklahoma City’s high-tech industry in 1998 than in 1993. Oklahoma City experienced a 14 percent growth in high-tech jobs over that period. City sales tax proposals approved
Edmond voters demonstrated Tuesday they believe in long-term capital improvements by voting in favor of indefinitely extending a 3/4-cent sales tax. Edmond is on the right track when it comes to retail developments, according to the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). The retail trend is moving away from the indoor mall experience and is charging toward outdoor shopping plazas in the neighborhood sectors of cities.
