Who's Who

Two Edmond men selected for state’s image campaign

Two Edmond men are ready to tell the state that they believe in Oklahoma. Dr. Jordan Tang, a researcher, and Tommie Williams, an entrepreneur, are two of the first 11 “stars” in the “Believing in the American Dream” campaign recently unveiled by the state Department of Commerce. The goal is to first get Oklahomans to believe their state is great, and second, to take that message nationwide. Andrea Miles, a commerce spokeswoman, said a year’s worth of research showed her department that the images of Oklahoma nationwide were either negative or nonexistent, but that even Oklahomans had their doubts about what the state has to offer. These two men typify the message that the state campaign is trying to communicate with other Oklahomans — that anyone can be successful and achieve the American dream right here in Oklahoma, Miles said.
