Kelley Pointe Tech Park announces first tenant
Kelley Pointe Plaza at the Kelley Pointe Technology Park in Edmond had its grand opening and announced that Abbott Laboratories would be the first tenant in the new development. The pediatric pharmaceutical and nutrition company is expected to occupy the plaza's first floor beginning May 1, under a five-year lease agreement. Edmond’s Jetta celebrates recent sale
Jetta Corp. sold its 100,000th whirlpool bathtub this month. It was bought by builder Matt Wilson and was installed in north Edmond’s Woody Creek addition. The company has been based in Edmond since 1984. Jetta employs more than 130 people in 12 states, including nearly 100 in Oklahoma. The company now carries showers, sinks and countertops but will continue to focus on whirlpool tubs, especially after selling tub number 100,000. Courtesy of The Daily Oklahoman, April 26, 2002.

Putt-A-Round Miniature Golf opens in Edmond
An 18-hole miniature golf course recently held a grand opening in Edmond. The golf course is complete with waterfalls, streams, longer putting greens, artificial sand bunkers and rough. Putt-A-Round, at 601 S. Bryant, is open from 9 a.m. through midnight daily, allowing for daytime and evening outings. For more information, or to reserve an event room, call 844-8006. The Bead Attic opens in Bryant Square

Downtown Edmond Arts Festival starts Friday
This year presents the largest group of artists in the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival’s 23 years. More than 100 artists from all over the country will gather together to showcase their creations. The boundaries of the Downtown Edmond Arts Festival begin at Second Street on Broadway and continue three blocks north. The festival hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The auction will begin at noon Friday and will close at 3 p.m. Sunday. Farmers Market now open
The Edmond Farmers Market opened Saturday in the parking lot of the City Administration Building at 100 E. First St. The market features more than 35 vendors offering fruits, vegetables, herbs, bedding plants, garden art and honey. Cut flowers, soap, candles, and other homegrown or handmade items will also be available at the market. The Edmond Farmers Market is sponsored by the City of Edmond, with assistance from the Edmond Economic Development Authority and the Downtown Edmond Business Association. OC students prepare for national competition
Oklahoma Christian University’s Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) team was named the Free Enterprise Regional Champions at the 2002 Students in Free Enterprise Regional Exposition and Career Opportunity Fair in Memphis, Tenn. Oklahoma Christian’s SIFE team will now join 20 other regional champions from around the nation at the 2001 SIFE USA National Exposition next month in Kansas City, Mo. Edmond city council voted in favor of land purchase

Edmond city council members recently agreed to purchase one piece of land and begin negotiations on another. They voted 4-1 to buy approximately 47 acres near 33rd Street and Boulevard. The city will purchase this property for $950,000 plus closing costs. Officials plan to use the land for walking and picnicking. The council also agreed to allow city staff members to negotiate the purchase of land on the east side of Interstate 35 near Covell. Public works director, Clay Coldiron, said if purchased the land will be used for fire training, an animal welfare facility and a new public works center. The new facilities will be paid for through a capital improvement sales tax voters extended in December 2000. Courtesy of The Daily Oklahoman, April 23, 2002.
