SW Bell promotes Perkins
SBC Southwestern Bell has named Ashley Perkins external affairs manager for Edmond. A graduate of Memorial High School and the University of Oklahoma, she is a 13-year veteran of the communications and technology industries. She has worked with SW Bell for more than eight years, holding a number of management positions in sales, marketing and information technology. Golf USA to open at University Plaza
Golf USA has opened four new franchise stores in the past few weeks. The four stores are in Scottsdale, Ariz.; Turlock, Calif.; Franklin, Tenn., and Austin. Two more new stores – Euless, Texas, and Marion, Ill. – have finished attending corporate training sessions at the Golf USA headquarters in Oklahoma City. Both are scheduling openings this month. The company also has plans to open another store in Edmond at University Plaza located at Second Street and Bryant Avenue. Golf USA, founded in 1986, has 101 stores in 29 states and six countries. KFC, A&W combo coming to Edmond
Edmond residents soon can look forward to two new restaurants in town plus possibly two more in the next few months. Kentucky Fried Chicken and A&W Restaurant are combining to build two of its chain restaurants similar to the KFC/Taco Bell combination restaurants. Avoiding upgrade headaches
Although most businesses have to upgrade their computer systems sooner or later, many fail to prepare for the event and experience significant loss of both money and workforce productivity as a result, local officials say. “A lot of companies fail to realize the costs involved,” said Terry Suellentrop, chief executive of Firedog Technology Solutions, an Edmond area technology company. “They think they can invest in the hardware and software and be done, when in reality, the costs continue on because you’ve got installation costs, you’ve got continued maintenance.” Courtesy of The Journal Record, November 11, 2002.

Shon Smith of Houston, Texas has been named vice president for church relations at Oklahoma Christian University, filling a key position in the senior administrative team of new president Dr. Mike O’Neal. As vice president for church relations, Smith will have a primary responsibility for program development and fund-raising for all programs directed to and serving the Churches of Christ.
