Janet Yowell is the executive director of the Edmond Economic Development Authority.
The Edmond Economic Development Authority (EEDA) exists to offer resources that stimulate the growth of Edmond’s economy by creating and maintaining an optimum environment for both new and existing businesses, offering services that facilitate the growth and expansion of those businesses and generating opportunities to increase the sales tax base of the city of Edmond.
In her 20+ years at the EEDA, Janet has served as associate director, director of retail and downtown development, director of EdmondHQ and client services manager.
Janet is the chief executive and administrative officer of the EEDA, and is responsible for planning, developing, and implementing the programs and directives of the EEDA Board of Trustees based upon its current fiscal year Goals and Objectives.
A graduate of the University of Oklahoma’s Economic Development Institute (OU/EDI) and Leadership Edmond Class VIII, Janet has served as chairman, vice-chairman and secretary of the Governor's Economic Development Team (GEDT).
Named as one of the 2006 50 Women Making a Difference by the Journal Record, Janet is the past chairman of the Greater Oklahoma City Partnership, a 10 county regional economic development marketing organization.
Janet currently serves on the executive committee of the Oklahoma Economic Development Council. Serving in an advisory capacity on the Central Edmond Urban Development Board, Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport Board and the Edmond Area Chamber of Commerce, she is a member of Edmond Central Rotary, Urban Land Institute, Edmond Board of Realtors, Oklahoma Christian University Business Advisory Council and the International Council of Shopping Centers.
Janet is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma and resides in Edmond with her husband Mark. She has two daughters, 23-year-old Emily and 18-year-old Melissa.
