Edmond ranked No. 11 on national list for best places to live

Once again, the experts agree: Edmond is a great place to live.

Edmond is the highest ranked community in Oklahoma in the Livability.com 2026 Top 100 Best Places to Live list, coming in at No. 11.

Now in its 13th year, Livability’s annual ranking focuses on cities with populations between 75,000 and 500,000 – what it calls the “sweet spot” size that offers big opportunities while remaining small enough to feel like home. To build this list, Livability partnered with the data experts at Applied Geographic Solutions (AGS) to analyze nearly 100 data points across eight essential categories. To ensure the 2026 list remains attainable and affordable, Livability only includes cities with a median home value under $500,000.

Edmond’s latest ranking underscores its commitment to maintaining a community where residents can truly thrive. In talking about its ranking, Livability.com said: “Edmond stands out for its exceptional performance in the environment, economy and safety categories, proving it is a place where people can actually afford to live, work and play. Additionally, Edmond had the highest overall LivScore of any Oklahoma city featured on this year’s list.”

“We’re honored to once again be recognized as one of the best places to live in the country, and the top-ranked community in Oklahoma,” said Edmond Mayor Mark A. Nash. “This recognition reflects the dedication of our residents, businesses and city staff who work every day to make Edmond a place where people can truly thrive. From our safe neighborhoods to our commitment to quality of life, we are proud to offer a community where families can live, work and play. While rankings like this are meaningful, our real focus remains on continuing to serve our residents and preserving what makes Edmond such a special place to call home.”

Tulsa, which landed at No. 89 on the list, is the only other Oklahoma community recognized.

Edmond was recognized by Livability in 2023, when it was ranked No. 7 on the website’s Top 25 Places to Live in the Southwest rankings. Earlier this year, Edmond ranked No. 22 on the U.S. News’ 250 Best Places to Live in the U.S. in 2025-2026. Also, Niche.com – a website dedicated to helping people find schools, companies and neighborhoods based on reviews and official data – placed Edmond at No. 2 on its 2026 rankings of the best places to live in Oklahoma.
